Houston, we have an IEP

Rachel’s sp-ed teacher just called about her IEP.  We have one set for next Tuesday at 2.  I’m a smidge concerned after talking with her.  Last year the teacher wanted her held back.  This year the teacher wants her to be in the regular ed classroom for everything.  I really don’t want that.  Her reading has definitely excelled and I want her in regular ed for her reading.  Her math is a different story though.  She really struggles with it.  I think a regular ed math class is going to overwhelm her so much.  My biggest fear for her is to hate the subject and quit trying.  And spelling/vocab could also go that way too.  She has had no 2nd grade spelling words to memorize and to immerse her in it once she hits 3rd grade could be educational suicide.  So, we’ll see how it goes.  I shared with her how I felt and I know my husband will share his thoughts as well.  It’s sad that he seems to have more ooomph that I do.  X
