New fiction book with a focus on Fragile X

There is a new book out from a mom with children that have fragile x and, I think, autism.  The book is called “The Oak Leaves.”  It is written by Maureen Lang.  I haven’t read it yet but those on the fxs listserv that have, say that they just loved it.

Odds & Ends

We have just had a variety of stuff going on:

• Lauren turned 15 on Sunday!  Kevin was able to talk to her yesterday morning. She was going to do the church thing and then they were going to have a BBQ for her.  Kevin was supposed to be able to chat with her last night too but of course no one answered the phone.  He hasn’t been able to talk to Austin for 2 weeks now and we still have no specific word yet on summer vacation.
• We took the kids to the local ice cream parlor Saturday, and when we got back I rolled Matt’s fingers up in the window.  I felt so bad.  He never has his hands outside the window.  Kevin saw it happen and all he could get out was “down, down.”  I had no clue what he was talking about.  I was thinking he might have dropped his rootbeer or something but it didn’t make sense.  He finally got out window and then I knew what had happened.  I freaked out and rolled the window back down.  Matt’s fingers are okay.  He doesn’t feel pain so I had to do a thorough checking which he wasn’t too impressed with but made me feel better.
• Kevin’s back is flaring up again so he is at home in bed.  I wish there was something that could make it all go away .  Rachel is staying home to take care of him…lol.
• We have auditors coming in this week, for the entire week, at work.  I’m not happy about this at all.  My stress level has skyrocketed and they are not even here yet.  They come every six months.  Hopefully, someday, I’ll get used to them being here.  I’m just so happy I got back on meds for my anxiety or I’d probably be a mess right now.  Weeks like this make me really miss my old church job.      
• Oh and Matt had developed this infatuation with noodles.  All weekend long this was our conversation: I want noodles Mom. We don’t have any.  Why?  Because we are out.  Then you need to go to the store.  I’m not going to the store right now.  Kevin need to go to store.  No, he is busy.  I want noodles now Mom.  You are going to have to find something else to eat cuz we are out.  Why?  Because we at them all.  And the conversation would start all over again.  There was not an hour that went by that I didn’t hear about noodles.  So tonight after work I’m going to pick him up from daycare and go buy him some noodles.  If I hear the word noodles one more time I think they will be putting me into a padded room!!!
