The Royal Hiney

Rachel is having grandma time with her best friend Zoey.  Zoey’s adopted mom is best friends with my adopted mom…nothing brings moms together better than adopting or having special needs kids, I guess.

So, while Zoey was at her summer program, my mom and Rachel went shopping.  Rachel snaps her fingers and tells my mom, “Open the door for me Miss.”

My mom obliges but only after she tells her, “Okay, Princess Hiney”

Well, Rachel thinks this is just too cute.  So everywhere they go Rachel is playing up the princess bit while my mom calls her Princess Hiney.

At this point we don’t think that Rachel realizes that grandma is calling her a butt and I can’t wait to see the look on her face when she finds out…lol!!

Knotty Tummy

Today my step-kids start counseling and I’m sooo nervous.  I haven’t talked about this much cuz I’m trying to distance myself from it or else I’ll get too excited and I’m afraid I’ll end up heart broke.

My step-kids, Lauren & Austin, are absolutely the most awesome kids you can imagine.  They are just really good kids.  And yeah, they screw up sometimes but they are just learning.  They live mostly with their mom and step-dad and 4 other siblings.  They live with verbal and physical abuse all the time.  They are very intimidated by their mother & step-dad.

After speaking with our lawyer she advised us that this is the best way to try to get the children out of that environment.  We are totally walking in untreaded water.  We are literally at the mercy of the counselor, and possibly the courts, at this moment.  We can’t necessarily help the kids do this….they have to do the hard part themselves.  All we can do is be there for them if they need us.  The kids have lots of questions and we have lots of unknowns.  All we can do is give ideas of what could happen.   I hate that.  I want to be able to tell them exactly how it works.

So today I’m just trying to keep busy, go through the motions to get through the day, and hopefully get some sort of plan by the end of the day.  Their appointment is from 6p-8p so it is definitely an all day ordeal.
