Conferences Day 1

Not only did I get the day off for Columbus Day, but Lauren and Austin got the day off for Parent Teacher Conferences.

It was an adventure.  We visited six classes at the high school and four classes at the middle school.  It only took us 4 hours to visit 10 teachers!

We started at 8:00 a.m. at the high school.  Lauren is doing brilliantly.  She has an F in English but once she does this one essay and get it turned in she will have a high B.  Her next lowest grade is a C but it’s in Geometry which is sooo incredibly hard.  She is working her tail off to get a B but because she is working so hard a C is very acceptable.  The rest of her classes are A’s & B’s.  All of her teachers love her.  They spoke very highly of her maturity and how kind she is.  Kevin and I loved how teachers kept saying that Lauren looked like the two of us….but I’m the stepmom!!

Next up was the middle school.  We were so happy that all of Austin’s classrooms are in one building.  It made it incredibly easy to find the ones we needed.  He is having a really hard time getting his assignments in and not rushing through his work.  Kevin and him made a deal that he has to bring his homework home every night whether it is done or not.  That way he is not rushing through it at school and Kevin can see if he is doing it completely and accurately.

We have high hopes that both kids will have A’s and B’s after this next six weeks.

Rachel and Matthew have conferences a week from Friday!
