Update on our Soccer Fiasco

(it all begin on this day)

We waited a week to see if any of the coaches would call and inquire about Rachel  or better yet, apologize.  We received a call on Halloween from a team parent informing us of a party for the girls at the skating rink, but we would have to pay to get in.  We continued our boycott.

Finally, we realized that we were officially being swept under the rug.  But we don’t go down that easily.  I emailed our local soccer representative Thursday with this email:

Good Morning,

I had mentioned to [area director] that I would get with you last week on the situation.  My husband and I decided to see if any of the three coaches would call and inquire about our daughter or even call to apologize.  Almost two weeks after the incident we still haven’t heard from anyone.  This makes us feel that our daughter is obviously not important to them and that they feel no remorse for putting our daughter in a mentally harmful situation.

We sincerely don’t want to be an annoyance.  We only want what is fair and right for our child.  We were not happy with the coaching this season to begin with.  The coaches had their children coaching while they gossiped on the sideline at most practices.  The lack of communication regarding the tournament rules of play was just icing on the cake.

So, for the spring 2008 season we would like to switch her to another team if those three ladies are still coaching the Hotshots.  If there is no other team then we would like a refund for the money we paid for the season.

If there will be a new coach(es) for the [team] then we have no problem keeping her on that team.  We know [other players dad] that has shown a huge interest in the team. He has genuine concern for the children and understands our daughters need to be included and our needs as parents to know what is going on with the team (such as tournament play is different than recreational play).

Thank you for your time.

We still haven’t heard anything from her.  Personally, I doubt we will.

Yesterday, a team mom did drop off her award from the tournament and a certificate for the fall season.  I was glad she brought it by for Rachel but at the same time I was incredibly pissed off that not a single one of the coaches had the balls to come to my home with them.

So, we shall see watch the next couple of weeks to see if I get a response from our area rep.
