Tummy Trouble Update

November 15, 2007

Well, apparently I won’t be getting a hysterectomy any time soon.  I went to the doctor today to see what the next step would be to deal with this intense pain in my female parts.  The last time I went to see her she said that if the endometrial ablation didn’t work that we would be left with a hysterectomy.  Well….

….eight months later the story has changed.  Argh.  She thinks that I may have a cyst on my left ovary.  So after a painful exam she ordered me to go get an ultrasound done and prescribed me more Lortabs (which at this moment are not working!).  I called to make the appointment for the ultrasound from the parking lot at the docs office.  I’m glad I did because they just had a cancellation for Monday.  If I hadn’t called I would have waited until the first week of December!!  So I have to go in Monday at 2 for my ultrasound.  And it isn’t one of those fun, cold gel on the tummy, ultrasounds.  It’s one of these!  I should get the results in about a week or so.

Well, I am sorry she changed her story on you. But it is a blessing that they had a cancellation, and you can get in relatively soon. I have had an ovarian cyst, and it was no fun. It ruptured. Shudder. I have had a trans-vag ultrasound done. To me it is easier than having to drink tons of liquids so they can see what they’re doing. I hope it is not too painful for you. Be sure to take a Lortab first, and make someone bring you. Gentle hugs to you!

it’s funny that you said to take a Lortab first. I just told Kevin that I think I better do that or I could be ripping some peoples eyes out :) . Thanks for you kind wors though rupturing cysts did make my tummy turn. I couldn’t imagine and hope I only have to imagine.

I don’t know your whole story (this is my first visit!) but the ‘internal’ ultrasound is not that bad. They used to be worse, believe me! I have PCOS (like many of the mums I know with kids with Autism, hmmm funny that) and it literally took YEARS to finally diagnose. It was finally found by ultrasound, doctors thought it was all in my head and thought it was depression due to my sons diagnosis (mod/severe Autism) and kept offering antidepressants. Sigh.

Hope all goes well with the ultrasound, and if it turns out to be PCOS I will be here to hold your hand if you need it.

I have PCOS too, and have had this ultrasound done more than once. It’s not so bad. Good luck!

Ewwww. I didn’t like that kinda u/s in case you wanted to know. Definitely not the worst thing in the world but I suck at having strangers stick stuff up my you know what. ;)

Glad hysterectomy is not the next step necessarily but good cod what is it with people going through serious female pains, being told hysterectomy is only answer then being told, oh, okay, cyst. *sigh*

A girlfriend of mine is going through this too and it’s so frustrating for her. I hope you get answers sooner rather than later and it really helps!

BTW…hell to the yeah for a cancellation. :)

Okay and also…I just checked my comments and your comment made me all weepy. Please, kiss that sweet child of yours. He has no idea how much he just made my day (and last night was a suckone so really that kind of sweetness reminding me of the greatness of kids who have difficulties really really helped my heart.)

I oh so know your frustrations with trying to get to the bottom of the female pain issues. And when I say pain I know you know what I mean. I recently had a hysterectomy and it has made me lots better. I have interstictial cystitis also and that causes confused pain in that area. Once that was treated though I still had major problems. I have saved one ovary so that could cause more endo to return but it buys me some time. Since this surgery though I have way less back pain and little to no monthly pain. So, if you do have to go down that road some day…hopefully you wont, but if you do know that there are many women that have been saved by that surgery. I consider myself one of them. It took me years to accept that and go through with the surgery. I wish I would have done it sooner. I hope the ultra sound leads to a definite way to take care of what is causing this pain. Hang in there!
