Suffer?

There is a guy, Gregg Harper, running for Congress in Mississippi.  He has an 18 year old son with fragile X syndrome.  I was reading through a little news snippet about him and ran across this line:

Because his 18-year-old son suffers from Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic developmental disability, Harper said he has a special interest in children with special needs and sometimes hires special needs children to work at this law firm after school.

When I look at my babies with FXS, the only one that I see suffering are those who inadvertently pushed them to the curb, because they are missing out on some fantastic and fun children.  My babies are not suffering in any way. 

This may be one of those politically correct way of phrasing things, huh?
