Day Off
January 21, 2008
So what do you do when you get a day off and your kids do to?? Why, create the universe, of course
.
Rachel is studying the solar system so she had to make a model of it with the sun, planets and the moon.
Kevin bought a kit at Walmart that had the styrofoam balls, wire, base and rings in it. We had to buy the paint separate and paint it. That was the most fun. I got to teach Rachel how to mix other colors together to create new ones.

I got to play with my hubby’s wire cutters. Woohoo. And I even knew how to use them. I’m moving up in the world
.

Rachel used some stickers she got for her birthday to create her labels.

And the kit didn’t contain a ball for the moon so we found one of our own. A bouncy ball….lol. I had initially thought play-doh would make a good ball, but can you believe we have no play-doh in our house!!

That’s a cool way to spend the day.
When I was little, a snowy day meant
doing a jigsaw puzzle. Quite an improvement
to create the universe, or our side of it
anyway.
Did the place mat help?
lol…that’s not a place mat. I know it looks good if it looks that well made. We cut a side off of a box and then put three pages of orange construction paper over it. The kit had a base for the model to stand on so we hot glue gunned the base on to the construction paper.
