Round 1 IEP’s

May 13, 2008

I say Round 1 because when I showed up at Rachel’s I learned it had been rescheduled.  Nice, huh.  I walked in and the teacher is like, “Oh you didn’t get my message!”  Well, no sh*@ or I wouldn’t be standing in your classroom.  Duh!!  She said that she could reschedule it for next Monday or Tuesday.  When I told her, “How about neither!” cuz I’m sick of taking off of work for these things, her suggestion was to do it without me.  I am soo not comfortable with that idea.  I have to admit, I did consider it for a moment.  But when that baaad feeling creeps into your stomach…well…yeah.  Not only that but I have NEVER missed an IEP and I don’t plan to start now!  It was rescheduled for next Tuesday and I will be there.

Matty’s went really well. It was a transitional IEP.  He will head to middle school next year.  The new teacher was there.  At first I wasn’t too sure about her.  She seemed to be stuffy and angry.  But once she warmed up she was amazing.  She has never worked with fragile x children ~ surprise, surprise!  But she has worked with a number of kids of varying degrees.  Matty came into the IEP for a few minutes and she worked really well with him.

We didn’t do a lot of new things for next year because he will need to get accustomed to the new school.  This is part of the reason that we have him paced in the school.  Pacing is where you average the school years over each school.  He will probably spend four or five years in mid school compared to the normal three.  And four to five years at the high school.

There is so much cool stuff at the mid school that he will love but it’s 9:30 p.m. and I’m brain deaded.  But I am excited and only a little nervous about next year.

And my hubby is home from his business trip…woohoo!!!

That time of year again…
