Transition Sequence Begins

Last year I had 4 kids in 4 different schools.  So to Matty that meant that everyone had their own school.  This year Rachel is moving up to the school Matty was in.  And Matty is moving up to Austin’s school. 

Yesterday I was able to register the three youngest kids.  I started out at the boys’ school.  We had to wait a few minutes for the doors to open so I figured this was a good time to discuss how the school was going to be Matty’s now.  Matty’s response:

NO!  NO IT’S NOT!!  DIS IZ NOT MY SCHOOL!!!

He was ticked off.  Lauren and I just looked at each other like, “Wow!”  We didn’t know Matty had that kind of anger inside of him. 

I am honestly surprised that I was able to get that boy out of the van and into the school building without a struggle or Lauren carrying him.  I was going to show him his classroom while we were there but teachers don’t report until next week.

We did Rachel last and when we pulled up to the school I told them that it was now going to be Rachel’s school.  Matty didn’t object.  Rachel did. Not helping!!  She apparently was very grouchy all day yesterday.  I had a discussion with her this morning about her behavior and how to deal with her feelings about going to a different school. 

I am very nervous about the first week of school now.
