Back to Work, Death Threat, & House Rules
Back to Work
Well, I was able to hold it down and hold it in long enough to get to work. I’m an hour from quitting time so I guess I’ll make it. I’ve had a couple of dizzy spells and on major wave of nauseousness. But otherwise I’ve been just peachy.
I came back to a very crazy world. As the market continues to do its ups and downs, our company is working on ways to let our clients and our community know that community banking is the place to be. My supervisor is so stressed that apparently she left work yesterday in tears and starting this morning in the same manner. We sent her home early today, so she could work at home with the afternoon talk shows, and a glass of wine, if need be. To make it all the worse, yesterday was her birthday.
Death Threat
I came back to work to get a nice little surprise from a telemarketer – a death threat. Yeah, from a telemarketer. This isn’t the first time a telemarketer told me something snarky but this was my first death threat from one. It was one of those guys who call and say that they are with the company that services your printer and they want to confirm the make and model of it. Then they try to sell you toner. Most companies buy copiers from a place that provides toner as part of their contract. That’s what we do. So we know right away it’s just a scam. So the minute this guy starts to rattle off his speel about needing to get some information on our Nokia blah blah blah, I hung up. Naturally. He called me back!! And he says, “You are going to die, Beth!” And then he hung up. I started laughing so hard. This apparently isn’t the first time a telemarketer has threatened someone. Check out this news article: Woman Gets Threatening Letter After Hanging Up On Telemarketer.
Well, WordPress has this new tool that allows polls so I have to ask:
House Rules
Kevin and I have learned that we have some wayward children (no Lauren, this isn’t about the hickey). They seem to be trudging along and not real sure of what the ground rules. They all seem to just pick through the day assuming they know what is right and wrong by what Kevin and I’s personalities are. It’s not really working.
PROJECT!! So I get to spend the rest of the week working on a list of house rules. I’m going to type it all up in a notebook so if they aren’t clear on a rule then they can be clarified. Plus we can add or modify if we need to as they age.
