Rachel’s Crush & other budding news

November 6, 2008

I have read, or heard, that fragile x kids can begin puberty a little earlier than their peers.  This past soccer season showed me just how much Rachel is growing up.  Rachel got a new love interest, the referee.  The referee is a young teen, probably around 13 or 14.  He is friends with the coach and sometimes drops in to help her with drills and things.  And of course he is there on Saturdays to ref the games.  He is a good kid.  And he knows Rachels name.  Nothing is greater to a pubescent young girl than an older boy who knows her refereename.

And she is FLIRTING!!  My almost 10 year old knows how to flirt!?!?  When did that happen?  I blame it all on Lauren. ;-)

A couple of weeks ago I was watching her on the field during practice.  The girls were donning their blue mesh jerseys for a scrimmage with another practicing team.  Rachel pretended that her jersey was too tangled up for her to fix it.  She asked the ref to help her.  He did.  Once he got it untangled she puts her arms up in the air for him to PUT IT ON her!!  WTF!!

And you should have seen the smile that she flashed him.

Her last day of soccer was last Saturday.  Sadly, there was a different referee and Rachel’s crush was not there.  But she got her developed soccer pictures at a team party afterward.  I had to chuckle that the ref was in the team photos.  During the silly photo Rachel was staring right over at the ref.  She now gets to stare at her ref all year long (sigh).

Speaking of early puberty, I had a harsh realization about my baby.  She put on this one shirt that she loves.  I had to do a double take.  For the first time I realized that this girl has to wear a bra.  There was no way I could let her out without one in that shirt.  She had little buds peeking out!!  She has a few trainers so I sent her back to her bedroom to put one on.

amazonstill2So to keep my baby young, ya know what we are doing this weekend??  We are having a princess day Saturday.  We are going to go do a little shopping.  Then we are going to go see Barbie: The Christmas Carol at the theater (our theaters shows it for $1!!).  Then we are going to go get our hair cut.  We are going to have a little lunch…her choice.  And we may shoot over to the library…to the kiddy section :)

Sniff. It is so hard to see them get bigger. Have fun on your outing, at least she still likes Barbie, not a big grown-up yet!

LMAO thats to funny!!! Puppy Love! I’m sorry but it is but its soooooo sad at the same time! I’m not looking forward to my babies growing up and going through that. You wanna know something funny though? HEHEHE My daughter came up to me today and said “Mom I saw a commercial and there was a girl on there that was pregnant and playing the guitar, she was rockin out too, I’m thinking she shoved the baby into her tummy!” LMAO I thought it was pretty funny concidering she’s 5. I turned to John and was like “Isn’t it to early to be having this conversation?” LOL So yeah I’m definitely not ready for her to grow up.

Wow… When you put it into perspective like that, it amazes me that you have to think about this stuff so young. But then when i think back, i started to “develop” when i was in 4th grade too. My parents were sort of oblivious about it though, and I got a bra from an older girl int he neighborhood, thinking I was all grown up, I am sure I threw my parents for a loop when they discovered it.

Oh yes! I’m right there with you! Last year David had a little girlfriend at school. It was kind of a love-hate kind of thing between them…they were either holding hands and being all sweet to each other or they were hitting, pinching, biting and generally picking fights with each other! So cute though! He was so sad that she is at a different school this year but alas, next year they will be in the same class at the same school again! She’s a grade ahead of him because when they were in kindergarten, she moved on and he stayed behind another year! Yikes! He was only 8 last year!!!! I know it’s coming but I am not looking forward to it!

So will you be visiting the bra section on your outing?? I don’t like you ;) . No we won’t be. She only needs 1 right now!

And FINALLY!! I can blame my FX carrier status on having a boyfriend in the second grade and so on. Yes, my goal come 6th grade was to have a BF every year. I reached that goal. Not so sure how great it was, but I reached it-lol You seemed to get a great hubby so the practice must have worked ;)

    Have fun this weekend.
