Friend Break-up

Rachel just lived one of the worst moments of childhood – the best friend break-up.  At girlschool yesterday her friend Vanessa presented her with a note.  I was going to scan and post it but I’ll get to that in a moment.  The note said that because they don’t each other much at school that they shouldn’t be friends anymore.  But they could still be classmates.

Rachel wasn’t near as heart broke as I expected her to be.  She was sad though.  She kept carrying the note around.  I finally told her that carrying it around wasn’t going to change.  Maybe she could put it in her scrapbook or even tear it up.  Her eyes gleamed.  When Lauren said that it felt good to tear up a break up note of any kind, Rachel went into a flurry.  She shredded that baby.  There were so many little pieces that she kept losing them on the way to the trash.

And with a smile she said, “And I already have two other friends, Mom.”  That’s my girl. Play the field. ;-)

I’m  a little heart broke about it though.  I would love for my kids to have a friend like I have Theresa.  Austin does.  He has a good friend that he spends the night with a lot and the kid comes over here.  And they play video games together practically every night.  The girls though.  I don’t know.
